Shichimi Togarashi

    Ingredients:
  • White Sesame Seeds 1 teaspoon
  • Black Sesame Seeds 1 teaspoon
  • Nori (seaweed) 1 teaspoon, shredded
  • Chile Powder 4 teaspoon
  • Poppy Seeds 1 teaspoon
  • Sichuan Pepper 1 teaspoon
  • Kosher Salt 2 teaspoons
    Method for Spice Madness:
  • In a food processor, combine all spices and chop until the Sesame Seeds are starting to break apart. Careful not to go too long, you want it to be a little coarse. For a variation, add some orange zest to the spice. The Japanese use a dried citrus peel, I find it a bit grity so I leave it out.
    Common Uses and other info:
  • Use this stuff as you would a pepper shaker when making or eating almost any Japanese Food.
